2024 REGISTRY SUMMARY

by Registrar Rebecca Courtney

The European Brabant Registry of America continues to make progress in documenting European Brabant horses in North America.  43 horses were registered in 2024, including 22 Appendix Record horses, 6 Brabant Stock horses, and 15 purebred European Brabant horses.  Notably, 29 of the horses registered were born in 2024.  This is exciting as it demonstrates the growth of the breed population and we expect the annual foal registrations to continue to rise moving forward as young horses develop and enter the breeding herd.

Beyond registrations, we see growing momentum in other ways as well. 28 animals were sold and transferred in 2024.  We're excited to network with new Brabant owners so be sure to complete those transfer forms if you sell a horse!  4 mares underwent a Breed Standard Evaluation and were approved as Qualified Mares through the breed-up program.

The EBRA had 49 members in 2024 and hopes to continue growing membership numbers moving forward.  If you've not yet renewed be sure to visit www.europeanbrabant.com/become-a-member to make sure you don't miss out on any of the excitement for 2025.

We're grateful for the support of all of our members and followers.  We are excited for everything that 2025 holds in store and look forward to continuing to spread the word about the amazing European Brabant draft horse with you!

2024 EBRA AMBASSADOR RESULTS

by Registrar Rebecca Courtney

Above: AKH Aspen at the Young Horse Show in Sedalia, MO.

The EBRA Ambassadors had a strong showing in 2024.  Congratulations to Olga Pushkareva who claimed the overall High Point award for the third year running!  Olga focuses on attending regional inspections and clinics targeted towards warmblood breeders.  Her two stallions, AKH Aspen and AKH Starry Night Indigo, consistently score very well and gain many admirers.

Above: Dehan Courtney and his son, Elwynn.

Dehan Courtney took the High Point title in the non-horse division, sharing his herd and knowledge about draft power with attendees from around the world at the New Wilmington Mission's Conference.

Stacy Pearsall tallied the most individual events including hosting several local groups for farm tours, a talk on equine reproduction, and even a photography clinic.

Youth Ambassadors Brayson Dantzler and Hayden Rodriguez both demonstrated their handling skills as part of the Virtual Horse Show and did an excellent job.

Are you planning to take your European Brabant to events in 2025?  Or will you be doing some breed education at events that would count toward our non-horse division?  Be sure to sign up for the Ambassador program and submit your points for our year-end awards!

The Ambassador Committee Needs You! The role of the Ambassador Committee is to incentivize Members to take part in community outreach, breed booth hosting, horse exhibitions and shows through accumulated points annually, and design Ambassador swag.
